All Seussed Up!

The Loony Mom's
Favorite Words of Wisdom

“Today you are You, that is truer than true.
There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

"Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So... get on your way."

“Be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind.”

"You can get help from teachers,
but you are going to have
to learn a lot by yourself,
sitting alone in a room.”

"Don't cry because it's over.
Smile because it happened.”

"Sometimes the questions are complicated
and the answers are simple.”

“I have heard there are troubles
of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead
and some come from behind.
But I've bought a big bat.
I'm all ready you see.
Now my troubles are going
to have troubles with me!”

“I meant what I said
and I said what I meant.
An elephant's faithful
one-hundred percent."

“A person's a person, no matter how small.”

“The more that you read,
the more things you will know.
The more that you learn,
the more places you'll go.”

"All alone!
Whether you like it or not,
alone is something you'll
be quite a lot."

“I'm sorry to say so
but, sadly it's true
that bang-ups and hang-ups
can happen to you.”

"Just tell yourself, Duckie,
you're really quite lucky!”

“I know up on the top
you are seeing great sights,
but down at the bottom
we, too, should have righ
ts."

“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet
ice cold in the snow,
stood puzzling and puzzling,
how could it be so?
It came without ribbons.
It came without tags.
It came without packages, boxes or bags.
And he puzzled and puzzled
'til his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought
of something
he hadn't before.
What if Christmas, he thought,
doesn't come from a store.
What if Christmas, perhaps,
means a little bit more.”

"If you never did, you should.
These things are fun, and fun is good."

“How did it get so late so soon?
Its night before its afternoon.
December is here before its June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?”

“You're in pretty good shape
for the shape you are in.”

“And will you succeed?
Yes indeed, yes indeed!
Ninety-eight and
three-quarters percent guaranteed!”

“From there to here,
and here to there,
funny things are everywhere.”

“And the turtles, of course...
All the turtles are free-
As turtles and, maybe,
all creatures should be.”

“Think left and think right
and think low and think high.
Oh, the things you can think up
if only you try!”

“You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
in any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
You are the guy
who'll decide where to go.”

“You are you. Now, isn't that pleasant?”

“Today was good.
Today was fun.
Tomorrow is another one.”

I love me some Dr. Seuss. Anyone who doesn't ought to check their pulse to see if they're still alive.

Lovely post. I had so much fun reading Dr. Seuss books to my daughter. But I was reminded of the special message behind the rhyme and rhetoric during a recent production of Seussical, and of course, in this meaningful post. Thanks for sharing! Clever idea, well executed.

Beloved Dreamer: Oh no, I'm not part of Poetry Thursday. I simply enjoy reading other people's creations. I don't have the gumption to show my poems to anyone yet. They are secretly stashed in my old bedroom. =)

Odat: A fine fridge you must have there, my friend. Enjoy your week!

Passionate Neila: That's also one of my faves. Woohoo!

Dr. Seuss should have been president! Would you believe my friends and I found a way to make Dr. Seuss a tool of anarchy in 12th grade (it helped that I was editor of the school paper)? It was the year we read 1984, and I swear we thought the headmaster was Big Brother. So in the mishmash of synaptic misfires that is my brain, the words of Orwell and Seuss will forever be intertwined.

choochoo said...

Wow. The grinch didn't remind me of that, but you just did... Oh, dear. lol

Tomorrow is definitely another one
:)
Thanks for sharing such beautiful words

Irene said...

Jennigirl: If Dr. Seuss was president, you could be his veep. I'd vote for you both. ;p

Choochoo: Just 41 days to go....

Wreckless: Maybe it's because we adults tend to complicate matters instead of sticking to the simple and true...

ZeroImpact: Have a good tomorrow, my friend! c",)

PlusUltra: Of course! I'm happy you asked. I linked your site to mine already. So now we are true bloggerfriends. Woohoo!
