"The snake is an animal..... It has a backbone and heart. It has red blood and drinks water and eats food. It breathes air and feels fear, just like every other animal in the world.... And it's in a body that is the hardest thing for the average person to understand."
—Dave Barker, herpetologist

Aww... In that first picture he looks so unfazed, just focusing on the snake. How adorable. I would've been scared out of my mind.

Cute! i think it's easier for the little ones. my cousin used to have a python named Monty and he put it around my shoulders when i was six. i didn't give it a second thought.
but the snake freaked my aunt out, so he ended up donating it to a zoo! i hope the snake was happy there :)
I couldn't do that.. I just couldn't.
snakes and spiders ... yeeooow!
I remember my friend picking up garter snakes when I was little and they excreted a very stinky smell... probably a survival defense thingy...
and I thought I would puke.
(ps. the wheel barrow came from Home Depot. Normal size)
Personally I think your son is more impressed by you wearing the snake, then by the snake itself.
MagicEye: Glad you enjoyed. Thankssssss!
Krystyna: You're really a sssssweetie! :p
Ssssscott from Oregon: Thanksssss and MWAAAAAH! ;p

Your sssson is abssssolutely gorgeous... like mommy I guess...
It's incredible how you'll get to know the itty bitty details of your children's interests huh?
You look extraordinarily happy in these photos.
Besos
Eeeeewwwwww!
Margie: Great to see you here again! Have a great week ahead, dahling!
Crazy Eddie: I looked extraordinarily happy because I was trying extraordinarily hard not to seem afraid. :p
Besos y abrazos!
Masago: HAHA! Not too fond of snakes, eh? ;p
Oh wow, that's something I will gladly relegate to Jun. One time we were in Manila zoo and Joshua looked interested in riding astride the ostrich. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
ewww I don't know how you did that... im terrified of snakes
I love snakes. Oh you son looks adorable, he must of had such fun!
Well, at least you didn't get sucked into the snake, so it could be worse. lol
I'm sure you made Niccolo's day even if he didn't know it was hard. And you have some great photos to show for it.
Thanks for visiting.
Mench: Snakes I can take. Birds...never ever! Just like you, I would have hightailed it out of there if I espied an ostrich nearby.
Wolfbaby: It wasn't that bad...really. ;p
ShadowFalcon: I could tell my son enjoyed because his eyes were huge with wonder and amazement the whole time. =)
Choochoo: That'sssssss true! :p
Sarala: Great to see you here. Hope to catch you again soon!
Thanksssssss for visssssiting my blog! I hate ssssssnakes and I am very sssssscared of them! Great pictures - You hve more gutsssssss than I would have!!!
I just watched a documentary on anacondas this weekend. I will not be going to the rainforest any time soon. ~shivers~

Shessshhhhh, that yellow ssssnake will ssssurely sssnug in my dreamsss tonight! And in my sshhhoulders too !!!
Your sssuch a brave momma! And cute cute Niccolo had his way!!!
Hey Irene,
These are beautiful pictures, very colorful. Yet there's something primal about snakes -- back in North Carolina where I lived, we had heaps of poisonous copperheads and harmless black snakes. Luckily, easy to tell the difference in an instant but there's something about a snake moving in the grass that causes one pause.
I'd have pisssssssed my pantssssssss. ;)
Steve~
and i have a great sssssnake picture i'm going to post real soon, too! :)
thanks for dropping by my blog! i'll add this one to my list.
What a brave mom you are.....great photosssssssssssss
Cheers
well, you seem to have pulled it off. hehehe.
I've never been afraid of snakes (although I wouldn't want to be bitten by one!) That ones pretty!! And although I repeat myself, that boy of yours is sssimply adorable.
That would ssssscare the sssssssnack out of me. What did you think I wasssss going to ssssay??
;-)
I'm not into snakes Irene but your yellow one looked like a whole lot of fun.
God Bless
Very sssssswwweeet picturessssss. :) You look pretty. I would have wet my pants being so near to that snake. This is the reason why i have a 400mm lens so i can take pictures of a snake from 20 feet away :)
You look a little concerned. But he looks so happy. :)
That is a big snake and it's yellow
:)
I think it's such a beautiful picture you got there
Haha.. Your son looks so enchanted by the snake. You din feel scared? I remembered the first time a big gigantic python was put on my shoulder, I had to use all my energy to control myself and not run away. Luckily i succeeded! hehe..
wow|!!!! nice.. :-)
Hi Irene,
I didn't really notice the fear in your eyes. You pulled it off quite well. :)
Yeeks, I don't like snakes, period, check out my new parallel site on http://alwaysmorebeyond.multiply.com
I don't mind snakes (hate spiders tho...) but my husband would FREAK if he had a snake on his shoulders.
You were very brave.
hey irene!
i did that once - but i wouldn't do it again!
anyway, i reastarted my blog on blogspot.
it used to be on my .Mac website.
check me out when you're bored.

That wassss brave :)
I'm light-headed just reading your post, and I scrolled really fast through the pics. Your boy is very lucky to have a mama like you. If I had kids, and they were interested in learning about legless reptiles, they'd be on their own. I nearly passed out and/or hurled in a pet store once because I knew those things were in there.
