SSSSssssmile, Don't Hissssss!

"The snake is an animal..... It has a backbone and heart. It has red blood and drinks water and eats food. It breathes air and feels fear, just like every other animal in the world.... And it's in a body that is the hardest thing for the average person to understand."
—Dave Barker, herpetologist

Cute! i think it's easier for the little ones. my cousin used to have a python named Monty and he put it around my shoulders when i was six. i didn't give it a second thought.

but the snake freaked my aunt out, so he ended up donating it to a zoo! i hope the snake was happy there :)

Pamela said...

I couldn't do that.. I just couldn't.
snakes and spiders ... yeeooow!

I remember my friend picking up garter snakes when I was little and they excreted a very stinky smell... probably a survival defense thingy...

and I thought I would puke.

(ps. the wheel barrow came from Home Depot. Normal size)

Kris said...

Personally I think your son is more impressed by you wearing the snake, then by the snake itself.

Oh wow, that's something I will gladly relegate to Jun. One time we were in Manila zoo and Joshua looked interested in riding astride the ostrich. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

ewww I don't know how you did that... im terrified of snakes

I love snakes. Oh you son looks adorable, he must of had such fun!

choochoo said...

Well, at least you didn't get sucked into the snake, so it could be worse. lol

I'm sure you made Niccolo's day even if he didn't know it was hard. And you have some great photos to show for it.
Thanks for visiting.

Irene said...

Mench: Snakes I can take. Birds...never ever! Just like you, I would have hightailed it out of there if I espied an ostrich nearby.

Wolfbaby: It wasn't that bad...really. ;p

ShadowFalcon: I could tell my son enjoyed because his eyes were huge with wonder and amazement the whole time. =)

Choochoo: That'sssssss true! :p

Sarala: Great to see you here. Hope to catch you again soon!

Hey Irene,
These are beautiful pictures, very colorful. Yet there's something primal about snakes -- back in North Carolina where I lived, we had heaps of poisonous copperheads and harmless black snakes. Luckily, easy to tell the difference in an instant but there's something about a snake moving in the grass that causes one pause.

Very sssssswwweeet picturessssss. :) You look pretty. I would have wet my pants being so near to that snake. This is the reason why i have a 400mm lens so i can take pictures of a snake from 20 feet away :)

You look a little concerned. But he looks so happy. :)

Haha.. Your son looks so enchanted by the snake. You din feel scared? I remembered the first time a big gigantic python was put on my shoulder, I had to use all my energy to control myself and not run away. Luckily i succeeded! hehe..

I'm light-headed just reading your post, and I scrolled really fast through the pics. Your boy is very lucky to have a mama like you. If I had kids, and they were interested in learning about legless reptiles, they'd be on their own. I nearly passed out and/or hurled in a pet store once because I knew those things were in there.
