Toy Cemetery

Answer me this.

How can a huggable little creature with such a heartachingly sweet and innocent face....

.... be capable of wreaking such physical devastation and mass destruction?

Alas, poor plastic figures!

Kindly join me in a moment of blog silence as we fervently wish these hapless playthings eternal peace and wholeness of being in the afterlife.

Amen.

Now that that's over with, I'm off to the mall to shop anew for my toddler.

So to the brand new toys out there: Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Oh, dear. My family used to buy me barbies when I was an adorable kid. I shaved their hair off, drew tatoos on them and pretended they were hookers...

It's genetic Irene. All boys destroy their toys. If we had even half of the toys we used to play with, we'd be selling them all on EBay. :)

We LOVE our toys, Irene. And we play with them until they fall apart. We can't help it if we're living vicariously through them. We're boys, it's what we do. When we pull them apart, we're learning the skills we'll need later in life - ie, tearing apart our cars and leaving the parts scattered all over the garage for a year. ;)

Choochoo: Uh-oh. You were a pretty scary kid. Bwahaha!

I never liked playing with dolls. I always preferred books. :)

Brian: The toy companies must jump with joy each time a boy is born then. ;p

Great to see you here again. I've missed you, buddy!

Ian the Irish: And when does the skill of putting things back together develop in males?

Or maybe the better question is...does it ever? ;p

my4kids: You have 4 children. I imagine the scope of destruction is much more horrifying. :p

Hehe...I used to rip the heads off my Barbie dolls and roll the bodies down my driveway ;)

Maybe I shouldn't have admitted that :P

The boys never out grow it. My son still pulls apart his toys. Like Ian said it is a skill they learn for later in life. *LOL*

Thanks for visiting my blog. :)

I am very much like that when I was a kid! a toy won't last for a month! hehehe...

I think it's because you won't get the real joy of a toy without really testing it's durability! hehe :)

I recently threw out two boxes worth of broken toys. Now i refuse to buy expensive stuff for my gremlins. Same's true for girls by the way. It's not just boys who do it. Faith's even more destructive.

Any toy that is still in one piece, most likely means that it didn't get any attention. Or it is simply unbreakable.

Buzz & Woody are shaking in their respective moon & cowboy boots just now.

Sure hope that makes sense and isn't before your time.

**giggle** what happened to the days that they would just crawl in the boxes?

Irene said...

Bearette: You're right. I was better off NOT knowing you were a Barbie beheader.

Bwahahaha!

Debs: Thanks for the word of warning...I think. ;p

Twilite: Always glad to add a bit of cheer to your day, dahling! :)

Katiebelle: You'll find out soon enough! :p

Masago: Thanks for the smiles!

Paolo: You boys talaga! =)

I enjoy visiting your blog. I'll link your site to mine, too.

Ria The Momcaster: I know. Kisses to Rocio! :)

Mench: Faith should meet Niccolo. The toys will shudder with terror.

The Winged Acrophobic: Too true! Haha!

Terra Shield: Thanks....I think! ;p

Vicky: I guess kids are naturally curious how things work and fit together. I only wish the learning process wasn't so costly! :p

Diesel: Oh! Toy Story is one of my son's favorite movies. Maybe he learned too much from Sid. ;p

Marsha (I picked one!): I've practically memorized every line of Toy Story 1 & 2 because my kid has watched them a gazillion times.

His most often repeated phrases are: "YEE-HAW!" and "TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!" ;p

Echo: Hmmmm. I don't remember those days. As far as I can recall, my little man's always been an imp. HAHA! :)

A Mom Who Thinks Too Much: From now on, I'm going to be checking beneath our sofa and other nooks and crannies for hidden toys (and toy parts). Thanks for the tip! ;p

The Thinker: Haha! He managed to look both cute and pitiful in that photo. :)

Pamela: Uh-oh! I sure hope not! :p

This had me laughing so hard! And the photos of your little boy are precious! And my eyes did a trick on me when I read "I'm off to the mall to shop anew for my toddler" -- my eyes saw "I'm off to the mall to shop for a new toddler" -- I re-read the line and got a great laugh out of that, too!
:)

Clare: "I'm off to the mall to shop for a new toddler"...

Now that made me laugh! ;p

Hahaha! I always give my son's new toys a week before their parts are taken and somehow attached to the older parts of other older toys.

Ours is a house of plastic mutants.

Hmmm. Somehow I can't help but connect this to your post about men.

Irene said...

Krystyna: Haha! Thanks!

Maryanne: "House of Plastic Mutants" - that would make an excellent movie, don't you think? ;p
