The First Man I Ever Loved

Becoming a father isn't difficult, but it's very difficult to be a father.
- Wilhelm Busch

He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.
- Clarence B. Kelland

There's something like a line of gold thread running through a man's words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself.
- John Gregory Brown

It is a wise father that knows his own child.
- William Shakespeare

Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away.
- Dinah Craik

I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father's protection.
- Sigmund Freud

A father is always making his baby into a little woman. And when she is a woman he turns her back again.
- Enid Bagnold

The father of a daughter is nothing but a high-class hostage. A father turns a stony face to his sons, berates them, shakes his antlers, paws the ground, snorts, runs them off into the underbrush, but when his daughter puts her arm over his shoulder and says, "Daddy, I need to ask you something," he is a pat of butter in a hot frying pan.
- Garrison Keillor

I talk and talk and talk, and I haven't taught people in 50 years what my father taught by example in one week.
- Mario Cuomo

There's no pillow quite so soft as a father's strong shoulder.
- Richard L. Evans

You know, fathers just have a way of putting everything together.
- Erika Cosby

I love my father as the stars - he's a a bright shining example and a happy twinkling in my heart.
- Adabella Radici

One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters.
- George Herbert

Be kind to thy father, for when thou were young, who loved thee so fondly as he? He caught the first accents that fell from thy tongue, and joined in thy innocent glee.
- Margaret Courtney

Those who trust us educate us.
- T. S. Eliot

My father was often angry when I was most like him.
- Lillian Hellman

I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren't trying to teach us.
- Umberto Eco

To her the name of father was another name for love.
- Fanny Fern

The meaningful role of the father of the bride was played out long before the church music began. It stretched across those years of infancy and puberty, adolescence and young adulthood. That’s when she needs you at her side.
- Tom Brokaw

It is much easier to become a father than to be one.
- Kent Nerburn

It's only when you grow up, and step back from him, or leave him for your own career and your own home—it's only then that you can measure his greatness and fully appreciate it. Pride reinforces love.
-Margaret Truman

My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.
- Jim Valvano

Happy 65th Birthday to the best father anyone could ever ask for.
I may be all grown-up but I'll always be Daddy's Girl at heart.

I love you, Dad!!!

Lovely post. You are very lucky to have such a wonderful relationship with your dad. I did not, and it haunts me to this day, now that he's gone.

My dad took me on my first date, he came to the door picked me up and took me to dinner he pulled out my charir and then delivered me sefely to our front door, I thought it was weird but at the end of the night he said that as I was now allowed to date and he wanted me to know how I should be treated.
(this all in a very non-hilbilly light)
My dad isnt with us anymore but hes still the most important man in my life.
he taught me self respect.
may your dad have a great birthday.

Ahh so sweet.
It is all true. I have a very hard time letting my daughters
(19 & 21)be young independent ladies..
a part of me wants them to stay my little adoring babies..they were sooo cute.
A Beautiful tribute..HB Pop!

Hi, I'm a newbie here, but I already want to bring all the benefits of me :) So, I want to share my experience with you..
9 days ago, accidentally, i had found the Mobile Phone TV...and I was so delighted with this application
that I decided to talk to you :)

I consider myself a bit of a road warrior. I am on and off jets and through airports at least twice,
usually 4 times a week. I can catch up on news, watch a Discovery program, check up on the stock market or just find something interesting.
The live guide works like cable at home and the connection speed is very good. All in ALL - I RATE A 5 Star program!

but I do not want to leave any links here, so you can email me fairyalexiss@gmail.com
and i will give you the site of this unusual program :)

(but please don't PM me, because it's so difficult to communicate in such kind of way)

so, I hope I was helpful to you)) see you in next posts ..

sincerely
your Alexis....

p.s. English is not my native language, so sorry for any mistakes :)
