Marching Mad Hatter

"At the age of four with paper hats and wooden swords we're all Generals. Only some of us never grow out of it."
- Peter Ustinov

These days, our mischievous toddler is utterly fascinated with marching toy soldiers.

In order to seriously look the part of a marching band member, he has taken to wearing anything he sees remotely resembling a tall hat on his head. This includes...

....a Pancake House standing menu which he suddenly pulled from the restaurant table, proudly placed on his head as if it were a king's crown and kept on for three days straight....

....a rolled-up 2006 wall calendar that we had to give him as a peace offering when he totally flipped upon finding out that we threw away the Pancake House menu because it got too tattered and torn....

....and his daddy's camera light cover which he sneakily swipes everytime there is a shoot in our studio.

Sigh!

Really now. What is a concerned mother to do?

Nothing much....except to tell you that if perchance you spot a little boy confidently strutting around town with something strange on top of his head, please try not to laugh.

Instead, salute him. You will surely make his day.

my favorite is the calendar hat photo. he's in his own world yet at the same time, it's like he's saying, "what, it's my hat..."

love it.

My nephew went thru the same thing with his Batman shirt. We had to buy him a few of them because he wouldn't take them off long enough to wash them.

Margo: Glad you enjoyed the photos! Creativity, I discovered, is something always running high in little children. =)

Bearette: Go go go! You won't regret it. Think of all the cute little baby stuff you will be inspired to knit! ;p

Kirsten: Your Batman-loving nephew should meet my son's friend who actually thinks he IS Spiderman. He always wears a Spidey outfit and keeps trying to crawl up walls. :p

Princess Shin: Haha! Glad you were tickled by the photos. Enjoy your weekend, dahling!

Steve: Well, you sure as heck can't borrow MY crown! :p

Krystyna: Thanks! We're flying Niccolo to a resort hotel for his birthday because he loves the water. I can't wait! ;p

Pamela: It's hard to be proud when everyone in the mall is staring at the little kid with a menu on his head, but I do try. HAHA! Happy weekend!

AWWWWW How adorable! You will look back at this time and smile. What a wonderful memory that will be. Nothing wrong with wearing a paper hat on ones head. :)

Once those paper hats at the donut shop and the burger king crowns came there was no going back ;)

Imaginative kid you have there :)

Burger King used to give out "crowns" when I was growing up. It was the highlight of the trip on the rare occasions we'd get something from there.
